A distinctive feature of this year’s program was that the main activities were held on Omadhoo Island, Maldives, with participation not only from Housekeeping professionals but also from local authorities, students, and a large number of island residents.

Even before the international delegations arrived in Omadhoo, the entire island had been decorated with colorful flags and festive decorations, creating the atmosphere of a major community celebration and demonstrating the local community’s appreciation for Global Housekeeping Week.

Honoring the Housekeeping Profession and Affirming Its Important Role in Hotels

In addition to the Housekeeping Competition, the program featured a wide range of activities, including charity initiatives, team games, community engagement, activities for students, and programs designed to strengthen connections with local residents.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Abdulla – President of the Maldives Housekeepers Association (MHA) – emphasized the important role of the Housekeeping department in hotel operations, service quality, and the guest experience.

One of the program’s meaningful activities was an exchange and sharing session with local students about the Housekeeping profession and the Hospitality industry. The activity contributed to career orientation, encouraged young people to consider hospitality careers, and helped build greater pride and respect for Housekeeping in particular and the hotel industry in general, while introducing career opportunities in the hotel industry.

This activity was particularly meaningful in the Maldives, where island communities represent an important source of human resources for the country’s hotels and resorts.

VEHA sincerely thanks the Maldives Housekeepers Association, the local authorities and community of Omadhoo Island, and the entire Organizing Committee for the warm, heartfelt welcome and memorable experiences extended to the Vietnamese delegation and international representatives.
