August 8, 2026 – The Vietnam Executive Housekeepers Association – VEHA, under the Vietnam Hotel Association, successfully organized the seminar “Elevating Housekeeping Management for Future Success” at Renaissance Riverside Hotel Saigon.
The programme was attended by Executive Housekeepers, Hotel General Managers, hotel managers, operations professionals, and partners from the hospitality industry.

Elevating the Role of Housekeeping in Modern Hotels
In the context of a rapidly changing hospitality industry, the Housekeeping department is no longer seen only as a function responsible for asset management, clean rooms, and maintaining service standards. Today, Housekeeping has become a vital link in enhancing guest experience, controlling costs, improving operational efficiency, driving sustainable development, and contributing directly to the overall success of hotels.
With the theme “Elevating Housekeeping Management for Future Success,” the seminar emphasized that modern Housekeeping leaders must not only be strong in technical expertise, but also possess team leadership capability, service mindset, adaptability, cross-departmental collaboration skills, data-driven management ability, sustainability awareness, and the capacity to create value for hotels.
Delivering the opening remarks, Mr. Nguyen Quang – Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Hotel Association and Chairman of VEHA shared:
“Housekeeping is one of the most important departments in hotel operations. Through this seminar, we hope that Vietnam’s Housekeeping management community will gain new knowledge, inspiration, and practical solutions to enhance leadership capability, improve service quality, promote green and sustainable development, develop their teams, contribute more to the overall success of hotels, and continue elevating the Housekeeping profession in Vietnam in the time ahead.”

Masterclass by International Expert Gabriel Tan
A key highlight of the programme was the in-depth training session facilitated by Mr. Gabriel Tan – CEO of GUAVA International and UN SDG Pioneer.
During his session, Mr. Gabriel Tan focused on topics of strong relevance to the hospitality industry, including evolving guest expectations, how Housekeeping can create better guest experiences, how to build more engaged and effective teams, and the role of sustainability in improving efficiency, reducing waste, and creating greater value for hotels.

Overview of the seminar
Through an interactive, sharing-oriented, and action-focused approach, the Masterclass helped Housekeeping leaders gain a broader perspective on the strategic role of their department in modern hotel operations.
Panel Discussion: “Modern Housekeeping Leadership”
In addition to the training session, the programme featured a panel discussion titled “Modern Housekeeping Leadership for Future Success” with the message: “New Era – New Roles – New Expectations – New Capabilities – New Opportunities.” The session was moderated by Mr. Nguyen Quang – Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Hotel Association and Chairman of VEHA.
The speakers shared practical perspectives on the role and importance of Housekeeping in service quality, guest experience, brand reputation, and business performance; the expectations of hotel management toward Executive Housekeepers; the core competencies required of modern Housekeeping leaders; and career development opportunities for Housekeeping professionals in a challenging and professional hotel environment.
One of the key messages of the panel discussion was the need to shift the perception of Housekeeping from a “Cost Center” to a “Value Creator.” Modern Housekeeping leaders need to demonstrate their contribution not only through room quality, but also through guest experience, operational efficiency, team development, and overall hotel performance.

Energizing the Team for a New Day or New Shift
Another notable part of the programme was the sharing session by Ms. Le Thanh Huyen – CEO of Vinskills with the topic “Energizing the Team for a New Day or New Shift.”
This practical activity helped Housekeeping leaders recognize the importance of positive energy, proactive spirit, and the ability to inspire teams before each working day or service shift.
In the hotel environment, especially in Housekeeping – where time pressure, quality standards, physical demands, and attention to detail are always high – creating motivation at the beginning of a shift not only helps employees start work with a better mindset, but also strengthens team engagement, improves service quality, and creates a more positive guest experience.
